My first purikura on Phozi

I just discovered Purikura on the SHOWstudio website and not having a photobooth nearby felt cheated in not being able to try the idea out. But googling purikura, I found a website that allowed you to mimic the idea with your own photos.
Purikura is an extraordinary form of self-portraiture which is reviving the practice of amateur print photography and creating a new genre of image-making with it. Deriving from a truncated Japanese translation of 'Print Club', Purinto Kurabu, the term Purikura refers to the photographic culture surrounding the modified 'Photo-Me'-style photo booths introduced to Japanese malls and amusement arcades by gaming companies ATLUS and SEGA in 1995.

Its a developing "art form" with some cool images coming out of a sea of Kitsch! I am going to keep an eye on it and maybe incorporate elements in some of my own photography, especially in fashion.

SHOWstudio review on 11 April 2007 - My movie!

Following on from my first post about this great night out and having taken my own Sony HDR-HC3E HDV Handycam I have now produced on my new iMAC, a Quicktime movie! edited, with transitions, titles and one effect (see if you can spot it?) which you will see, is all rather cool, for a first effort!!

By coincidence on the same day SHOWstudio put up on their website the film produced by seven of the guests including me which can now be seen on SHOWstudio.com. There's has turned out as a rather unexciting, but informative reportage, while mine I think is more fun and a bit of a story! What do you all think??

SHOWstudio review on 11 April 2007

Last night I was privileged to attend a SHOWstudio revue held at Three Rooms 15 Hanbury Street EC1. The space, converted specially for a wide range of events by Sony to coincide with the launch of PS3 is a fabulous colorful space packed with hi-tec goodies, a bar, chill out zone and various places for performances, displays and generally hanging out.

Around 60 guys and gals from SHOWstudio and their guests, coming from a wide spectrum of the fashion and creative industries quaffed wine, chatted, ate finger food, played with the PS3's and observed or took part in a range of tableaux. neon roulette, a novel version of striptease, singing and dj grooves. Guests were provided with Sony cybershot cameras and HD video cameras which will later be edited into a movie. The event was livestreamed on SHOWstudios website as well.

As you can see I took my own camera as well and more of my snaps can be seen on: http://www.lubomirski.co.uk/showstudio/. I also took my Sony HDV Handycam with me and aim to produce my own edited movie in due course - so watch this space!
