I recently visited the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park and after all the bad press it has had and lots of corrective works I think it is a really successful piece of sculpture, which the public seems to enjoy. It has a variety of water flows which is a delight to experience.

On Saturday, I attended a "London Independent Photography" workshop entitled "Photographing the Urban Landscape" with Mike Seaborne. About 10 of us were shown a portfolio of his work and then he guided us a circular route round Kennington and Elephant & Castle and we all took photographs. Each of us then selected four pictures for discussion. It was an interesting exercise, seeing the different interpretations of a common subject. I have made a slideshow of my efforts, showing a total of 44 of the 117 images I took that day. It includes a serendipitous portrait taken at the very end of the day of Terry Turner, a very long term and active member of the The Camera Club in Kennington where we held the workshop.

On July 11th 2006, Tara and Harry Nicholas won one of my portrait commissions at a raffle to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity during a private view of the Summer Exhibition at The Royal Academy. A slide show of the shoot can be seen by clicking here.

These are pictures from a new project entitled "urban nature" which I am putting together for a workshop with Karen Knorr arranged by London Independent Photography in November. It's "work in progress" on a subtheme of "urban beaches" and I look forward to seeing what other people do with the subject.
